Presidents Mission Statement

Connecting Shipmates and Families

We seek to provide information and opportunity to enable you to re-connect with shipmates, we seek to promote camaraderie among those who served onboard the USS Paul F. Foster, to encourage membership through this website and maintain a database of shipmates whether or not they are contributing members. I encourage all of you to promote the Association and its activities, such as (but not limited to) reunions.

The Association seeks to preserve the memories and history of the mighty warship that is the last of the Spruance Class Destroyers. While we will no longer pursue saving her as a ship museum, we will use the Association’s united voice to ensure we are involved in any ceremony or celebration of her many years of dedicated service to her former crew and the United States Navy after it is decided her services as a test ship are no longer required.

The Association will pursue ways to preserve the history of Paul Fredrick Foster and the ship that was named in his honor, we are looking for a place to display historical memorabilia from the ship and we will keep you updated on that progress.  The association will also petition the United States Navy to name a new Destroyer after Paul Fredrick Foster, no promises but we will give it a try.

Your support is crucial in helping us continue to execute this mission. There are many ways that anyone can help. Time, money, resources, skills, and participation all help us get the word out so more people can join this association and help us grow. Even if you can’t donate, reach out to your old shipmates and tell them about the great Association.
