Hotel and dinner locations have been challenging this time, price gouging is out of control, so we are using a new location; this hotel is right outside the main gate to the Port Hueneme Navy base and comes highly recommended by other Navy reunion groups.

Thursday March 23rd

 Event early registration opens Thursday afternoon in the hotel lobby and continues Friday morning, when you arrive at the hotel in Port Hueneme, CA, check-in at the front desk, and then find our Association’s check-in table in the lobby area.  You will receive your welcome package and further information about the planned activities.  Next spend some time in the Association hospitality suite where you can talk more, view merchandise for sale and our raffle prizes, and enjoy a refreshing beverage and some snacks. Note: the Association hospitality suite and refreshments-snacks are included in your registration fees  

Friday March 24th

 **PLEASE DO NOT roam the ship unescorted, this is not allowed. and remember, no cameras are allowed on the test ship.**

On Friday, we visit the former USS PAUL F. FOSTER and enjoy a delicious, fully catered BBQ lunch by "Its in the Sause BBQ" catering on the new steel beach with friends and family.

After lunch, the Navy is offering a guided tour of the ship with your family and shipmates.   PLEASE DO NOT roam the ship unescorted, this is not allowed. and remember, no cameras are allowed on the test ship.  (There will be an official Navy photographer to capture the event.)   

A few notes about the ship visit.  Children will be allowed on the ship during the ship visit and BBQ but must be with a parent at all times, no running or horseplay will be tolerated.  Navy ship stairs and ladders are steep and can be difficult for small children and some adults as well.  Sandals and open-toed shoes do not work well on Navy ships.  Wear appropriate shoes for the ship visit.

 

Friday evening is liberty call for all hands, find your shipmates and go tell sea stories until the wee hours of the morning!

Saturday morning, we will hold our general meeting at the hotel (coffee will be served).  During this essential meeting, we will discuss the current state and future of the Association, review the bylaws, elect new board members and pay tribute to those we've lost with the bell ceremony.Note: You must be a current paid member and Foster Veteran to vote at the meeting.

After the conclusion of dinner and awarding of the grand prize, the reunion business will conclude, thus allowing Sunday as a travel day for those who need to begin the journey home early.

The board has worked hard to keep the price down but please note the following.  It is in everyone’s best interest to register early so we can provide the hotel and caters accurate numbers. 

Refund policy, full refunds will be offered up until 1800 January 24th, 2023, after that we have already made reservations for dinner, BBQ and signed contracts for the number of meals and we will be unable to offer any refunds.

To help lessen the total cost to members with young children, we have decided to again reduce the fee as follows.  Children between the ages of 13 -17 are $50 each.  Children 12 and under are free. 

To encourage early registration, we will be drawing one random name from all paid registrations on January 24th, 2023 , that person will be refunded one reunion fee of 135.00 (regardless of how many guests that person registered ) the elected board members are excluded from this offer.

The registration fee helps cover the cost of the meals that are being served (Friday’s fully catered BBQ lunch aboard the ship, Saturday morning’s breakfast, and Saturday evening’s dinner, Once your registration is complete, use the provided link to reserve your room or contact the hotel by phone and make sure you inform them that you are with the USS Paul F. Foster Association and attending the 2019 reunion, as we've arranged special pricing with the hotel for Association attendees.

Access to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division and EX USS Paul F Foster SDTS requires submission of basic information to get access,  DO NOT contact the base directky about this event,  the USS Paul F Foster Assocation is your point of contact for that access. more information coming.
NOTE: if you have current base access credentials such as active duty or retired ID, you will still need to go through the vetting process for access to the SDTS for ship visit, the USS Paul F Foster Assocation is your point of contact for that access. more information coming.
FYI: As before, Only guests that are registered and go through the vetting process will be allowed on the test ship, you cant just show up on base that day and board the test ship, you must have paid the fees and be on the guest list before that Friday morning. the quaterdeck will be manned by NSWC PHD staff and they will check your name against the guest list, you MUST be on that list!

All registration questions  must be answered fully on the website to ensure you will be allowed to visit the ship, your registration must be completed by February 26th.  Late registrations must be completed and submitted by March 3rd, but there is a very good chance that you will not be cleared in time to enter the base or board the ship.  Registration will be closed after March 3rd.

Base security and U.S.Navy will require some personal information to get on base and onboard the ship. You will be emailed a base access form when we are close the reunion date: this form will ask the following  information.

COVID-19

We are monitoring both the Navy base and County COVID status and as we draw closer to the event we will post information here, 

If county levels reach HIGH, this can significantly impact COVID access protocols.

Currently, masks not required; however, should County levels return to HIGH levels just prior to March 2023, masks and strict social distancing may be enforced once again and the Visitor Certification of Vaccination may be required.
